…keeps the doctor away”. You may already know this old saying praising the health benefits of apples, but have you thought about how this is an easy way to get one of your five a day?

From sweet Red and Golden Delicious to tart Granny Smith…there’s a world of apple varieties out there, one for every taste and colour! Apples are truly marvellous fruits, brimming with goodness, and we’ve found evidence of people eating them going as far back as 3000 years ago.
An apple a day, preferably before your main meal, provides you with fibre as well as filling you up, stopping you overeat and boosting your immune system (not to be sniffed at when winter rolls around!), plus keeping you regular and helping fight hypercholesterolemia. That should keep your doctor away for a while!
Of course, you can also enjoy apples in many other ways, such as jams, juices and tarts…just try to not add too much sugar!
