Are you worried about developping Alzheimer’s disease?

20/05/2020

Do you find yourself in a room having forgotten what you went in looking for? Have you had the name of an actor on the tip of your tongue but it just won’t come to you? You’ve opened your mouth to say something and but it’s now gone completely out of your head?

It’s happened to all of us, no matter how old we are, but when these types of "symptoms" start happening more and more, it can be worrying. If you are anxious about getting Alzheimer’s, read on and try the little test we’ve prepared to put your mind at ease.

First and foremost, the fact is that after 60 it is perfectly natural to notice these types of "symptoms" becoming more and more common. It doesn’t mean you are sick, though, but is just a natural part of aging. What’s more, if you are aware of this happening to you, it more than likely means it is not pathological at all. In fact, Professor Dubois, Director of the Institute of Memory and Alzeimer’s Disease (IM2A) of Pitié Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris, has these reassuring words on the subject: "The more someone complains about memory loss, the less likely it is they suffer from a condition affecting their memory".

So to put your mind at rest, try the following test. Look at the image below and try to find the C in the orange part, the 6 in the pink part and the N in the purple part. Did you manage it easily? Well then your brain is evidently working perfectly!
