Coming into the world in water

Taking a hot bath offers a number of significant benefits to pregnant women, as it creates a peaceful environment that encourages intimacy and a feeling of safety. This makes the pain of contractions easier to bear as the woman is less stressed.
Furthermore, the risk of perineal tear is reduced compared to "classic" birth, and the position created in a bath-tub facilitates the baby’s descent.
Several doctors are still reticent about this alternative process, notably because the risk of infection could be higher in water births. Bath water can quickly become dirty if residual fecal and blood matter are not cleaned out quickly.
