Great news – cheese is good for you!
Since it was first started in 2002, the Pasture study on allergy protection, analysing rural areas and
surroundings (Protection contre l’Allergie : étude du milieu Rural et de son Environnement) has
already confirmed how instilling a varied diet at an early age can have protective benefits. Now, the
results of the fourth edition have been published, which deal more specifically with the consumption
of cheese.
According to the researchers, eating cheese (of all forms, from pressed to semi-pressed, creamy to
fresh or blue…) between the ages of 12 and 18 months is associated with significant decrease in
atopic dermatitis and food allergies developing at 6 years old.
This is a good time to remind us that while cheese might be in the cross-hairs of most diets due to its
saturated fats, it is also rich in beneficial nutrients such as calcium. So why not share a cheesy treat
with your little ones? Now you have a great excuse!
