How your walking pace affects your health
18/12/2018
There are many different ways to measure one’s general health – BMI, blood pressure, glucose and
cholesterol blood levels and more. Yet were you aware that your walking speed could also be an
indicator of how healthy you are?
This is, in any case, what American researchers from the University of South Carolina have recently
claimed. According to their findings, people in good health tend to walk more quickly than those in
poor health. It makes sense, after all.
This does not mean all you need to do is speed up to improve your health, however, even if physical
activity is generally beneficial. It is more a case of being aware if you are walking especially slowly for
no given reason, and investigating why.
