Medical marijuana in the UK

20/11/2018

Yet another country has taken the plunge into legalising medical marijuana.

Just a few weeks ago, the UK legalised the therapeutic use of marijuana. The announcement was
made by the Home Secretary, who nevertheless underlined that this would not open the door to
legalising marijuana for recreational use.

This decision was based on reports from two expert groups, which both demonstrated that
marijuana has real therapeutic potential. Many patients have reported the beneficial effects of
marijuana, in many different countries, especially for chronic pain.

The UK was far from the first – several European countries, namely Germany, Finland, Italy and
Austria, have also made the move, following recommendations from the many supporting studies.
