Kommerell's diverticulum (KD) is a malformation corresponding to a dilatation of the initial part of the descending aorta, which can in some cases compress the esophagus. To date, no guidelines have been proposed for the treatment of patients with this type of vascular anomaly. The article describes four cases of patients with a right aortic arch and an abnormal left subclavian artery due to KD.
The patients were all treated by endovascular surgery. The strategies were effective and no major adverse events were reported in the postoperative period. The endovascular approach is less invasive and improves postoperative outcomes compared to conventional surgery.
