Psoriatic arthritis

21/12/2017

This is a type of inflammatory arthritis that primarily affects the peripheral joints, though can also involve the spine. Both women and men are equally affected, typically first presenting at 30 to 45 years old.

Approximately 80% of sufferers simultaneously present with or have a history of skin psoriasis. This type of psoriasis manifests by red plaques covered with scales, especially concentrated at the elbows or knees. In the remaining 20% of sufferers these skin lesions only appear later.
