Spring and summer allergies

Spring has well and truly sprung, and summer is just around the corner. For those with allergies, though, it’s a tough time. Let’s take a quick look at "hay fever" and other allergies that play up particularly in spring and summer.

When the days start to get hotter it’s doesn’t always mean fun in the sun…At least not for everyone. Pollen allergy, commonly called “hay fever”, is a condition that affects around 15% of all Europe.
Here are some tips for limiting the risks:
• Watch out for high-pollen times. There are now interactive pollen count maps easily-accessible online so you can avoid going out at peak times of the day.
• If you do go out, wear glasses and a hat.
• When driving anywhere, keep your windows closed to avoid pollen accumulating in your car.
• See your doctor or go to the pharmacy to get further help if you need to.
Thankfully, in the most severe cases it can be possible to desensitise yourself to cure the allergy. Ask your doctor!
