Take care of your liver during the Christmas festivities

27/12/2018

Fatigue, nausea, lethargy…over the festive period, over-indulgence in champagne, cocktails, and rich foods makes your liver work overtime, causing an accumulation of toxins. Here are a few tips for strengthening your liver.

During the festive meals: Drink slowly and enjoy every sip. Avoid mixing different types of drinks, and
avoid dark-colored spirits, such as scotch and bourbon, altogether. A good rule of thumb is to
alternate one glass of water with one drink. The freshness of the water will help you enjoy the next
drink even more!

After the festive meals: Plenty of walking and drinking plenty of pure water (around 2 liters per day)
will help you recuperate quickly. Replace at least one of your meals with a vegetable bouillon to
prevent weight gain. Avoid processed foods and consume herbal teas. Eat mainly easily digestible
foods — preferably plant-based ones.

Miraculous rosemary: The therapeutic properties of rosemary were already known in ancient Greece.
The Ancient Greeks consumed rosemary in large amounts after feasts. It is well known that rosemary
aids digestion, stimulates bile salt production in the liver, and has a protective effect on liver tissues.
With all of these benefits, rosemary is your perfect companion for the festive season.
