There’s no end to the benefits of cycling!
People take up cycling for a variety of reasons: 80% do it for their health, 60% purely for the pleasure and 43% to save money.
So is cycling really that good for your health? Yes – great even! Many scientific studies have reported on this – regular cycling reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke as well as cutting their mortality rates by 30%. Even after adjusting for exposure to city pollution, cycling is still beneficial, and as a public health measure it’s highly cost-effective.
Another study, conducted by Heart, analysed 350,000 British people, finding that cycling to work reduced their risk of heart attack by 11% and mortality rates by 30%.
So where is your bike lying unused? You might want to dig it out and get pedalling!
